How to Obtain SuperCID on HTC Android Phone

SuperCID is said to be obtained when an android HTC phone installs any ROM from any provider around the globe. The SuperCID is particularly useful for those who might want to unlock their bootloader - this is because, at the moment, HTC does not provide bootloader unlock support for customers outside Europe.

Obtaining SuperCID is perhaps the beginning of your HTC android device explorations.
With the SuperCID you can install any stock ROMs and with this, you may unlock your bootloader. With the bootloader unlocked, you can install custom recovery, flash any custom ROMs to your HTC device and also the least of it; you can root your HTC device!

Required Files to Obtain the SuperCID

1- ADB ( Android Debug Bridge ) tools for windows. Download ADB tools here.

2- Download HTC Android USB Drivers here

Once the download of the files above is completed, just install the USB driver on your computer. You may skip this process if you already have HTC Sync installed on your computer.

As for the ADB tools, UNZIP the file and create a new folder for it on your local drive root folder; not in any sub-folder. It should be e.g C:\ADB

Also, make sure that all the files you unzipped are plain within the ADB folder and not in sub-folder of the ADB folder again.

Obtaining SuperCID

1- Enable USB Debugging on your phone.
To enable USB Debugging on your phone, go to Menu <<>> Settings <<>> Application <<>> Development then, mark or tick the USB Debugging option.

2- Disable Fastboot option
In some HTC android phones, fastboot could be found at Menu <<>> Settings <<>> Application <<>> Development or Menu <<>> Settings <<>> Power <<>>Fastboot

3- Set PC Connectivity on your HTC phone to Charge Only

4- Now plug-in the USB Cable to your PC and connect the other end to the phone. Wait few minutes for the initial installation of the drivers to complete.

5- Now, Open command Prompt on your PC. To open command prompt on your PC ( Windows XP ), click the Start Button then, run.
On the box that pops out, type " cmd " and press enter.

For Windows Vista/7 users, click the start button then, type " cmd " and press enter.

6- Go to the command prompt window already opened and type cd c:\adb to point command prompt to the folder within which you have your ADB tools placed.

7- On the next line, type " adb devices "- this should display your device stat and serial number. That's just to confirm that your device is ready. Now, on the next line type " adb reboot-bootloader " and wait for few seconds.
Your phone should now boot into fastboot - bootloader mode.

Also, to confirm that your phone is ready in fastboot mode, type " fastboot devices - your device new stat should appear below the command line.

Now, on the next line, type " fastboot getvar cid " and wait for few seconds.

Please note down the SuperCID figure. If command prompt displays 11111111, it means you already have SuperCID and no need to proceed otherwise; continue to the next line below.

Now, on the next line, type " fastboot oem write cid 11111111 " and wait for few seconds for the response from command prompt. Once done, on the next line, type " fastboot getvar cid " and wait for few seconds to confirm your new CID.

Once succeeded, SuperCID has just been written on your HTC android phone and you can now install any Stock ROMs best fit for your HTC phone on it.
